‘The Lion Runs with Us’ — The Official Finisher Artwork for Wizz Air Venice Marathon 2026

For the 40th edition of the Venice Marathon, Italian artist Marta Pantaleo has created ‘The Lion Runs with Us’ in collaboration with Memorace.

The winged lion of San Marco, the symbol of Venice, runs across a bridge together with the marathon field, while Venetians cheer from every window and balcony. Behind them rise the Campanile and the domes of the Basilica. Below, gondolas glide on water painted in the same colours as the sky, as if the sky and the lagoon had become one.

Look closely and you will find small stories everywhere: visitors photographing the race from a gondola, a pigeon on a windowsill, and the lion leading the way. Marta painted every part of the artwork by hand, stroke by stroke, and every brush stroke and uneven edge carries through to the finished print.

Each artwork is personalised with your name and official finishing time. Enter your bib number when you order, and we add your time from the official results, so you don’t have to look anything up.
